Contributing to a better Macau through our arts and culture program is also an important aspect of our approach. Go Green Tour for University of Macau: On September 19, MGM welcomed a group of 37 students and faculties from University of Macau’s Health & Environmental Protection Ambassador Program to MGM COTAI for a Go Green tour. The tour consisted of a guided site walk around the property providing an insight into the recycling operations, efficient energy using, green guest room features, as well as having an overview of other sustainability programs in MGM. In line with the vision of MGM sustainability, MGM have been working closely with local educational institutions to cultivate the environmentally friendly culture in the young generations.

Mid-Autumn mooncake box recycling: With the support by the Macao SAR government, MGM set up collection points for mooncake boxes at both MGM properties for this Mid-Autumn Festival. During September 20 - October 14, we invited all employees to join the mooncake box recycling campaign. With the joint effort of our team members, mooncake boxes can then be given a second life and be transformed into valuable products.

SME Supporting Program: On September 6, MGM organized the “MGM SME Supporting Program - Food Safety and ISO Management System Seminar” in collaboration with the Macao Chamber of Commerce and supported by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Economic Bureau, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, as well as the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre. MGM MACAU's Grand Ballroom was filled with more than 200 participants, including SMEs, Food & Beverage vendors and industry practitioners, young entrepreneurs, government representatives and members from various SME associations, who were there to better understand the food safety knowledge and the ISO management system standards.

Culinary Demo Workshop with Chef Mauro: On September 26, MGM and Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) co-hosted the Culinary Demonstration Workshop with Chef Mauro Colagreco to celebrate the “2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy” and the launch of the new Culinary Labs at MUST. 30 students from MUST’s Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management joined the workshop where chef Mauro demonstrated his cooking techniques through cooking signature dishes at Grill 58. The workshop aimed at inspiring the students, as well as reinforcing Macau’s position as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy and as the tourism education hub of the Greater Bay Area.

Making sure senior citizens are safe and sound: On September 17, following a Typhoon Mangkhut, MGM Volunteer Team visited our senior buddies living at Social Housing Edifice Fai Fu in Fai Chi Kei, to send our warm greetings and provide necessary assistance. Besides checking the damages, MGM volunteers also delivered goodies bags to the senior citizens, with food and necessities.

Restoring Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop: In the wake of Typhoon Mangkhut, MGM Volunteer Team also joined forces with the staff from Holy House of Mercy to clean up the welfare shop and restore the vital community service back to normal.

National Education Seminar: On September 26, MGM held a seminar on “The Development of the Greater Bay Area and the Opportunities for Macau”, with the support of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region. Dr. Guo Wanda, Executive Vice President of China Development Institute was the keynote speaker to shed light on both opportunities and challenges of the Greater Bay Area plan for Macau. More than 300 MGM team members and faculties from local tertiary educational institutions attended the seminar.

Healthy Workplace & Happy Life campaign was part of MGM’s commitment to securing a safe and healthy workplace for all team members. As September was the “MGM OSH Month”, we teamed up with the Labour Affairs Bureau to organize the “Healthy Workplace & Happy Life” campaign at our two properties, MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI. Over 3,000 team members participated in a wide array of OSH activities, including wellness and health seminars, interactive fun games, and workplace safety competition between different departments.

Appreciating our dedicated staff: On September 28, MGM held a Thank You party to celebrate the 153 team members for their ten years of serving, as well as the 140 Sports Team members for their efforts and talent that made MGM special. All 10 Service Year team members received a set of certificate and silver coin in recognition of their contribution to the Company. Our management team and department representatives were also invited to spend a great night together with fun games, singing and dancing performance and a lucky draw. The dinner brought back everyone’s fond memories of the past years with MGM as a family.

Pastry & Bakery team won awards in Anchor Food Professionals Pastry Challenge: Congratulations to our Demi Chefs, Lexie Ip Wai Teng and Ivan Lin Fuxing from MGM COTAI Pastry & Bakery team for winning Silver Award at the Anchor Food Professionals Pastry Challenge Macau 2018. Also, congratulations to Kathine Kuok U Cheng and Carmen Pires de Crestejo Lopes, both from MGM MACAU Pastry team, for receiving Outstanding Award at the competition!

Ka Kio won Outstanding Disabled Employee Award: Congratulations to Ka Kio-- one of our most inspiring employees. In recognition of his great work, Ng Kai Meng, Chef de Cuisine of Home Base, decided to nominate him for the Outstanding Disabled Employee Awards organized by the Labour Affairs Bureau and Social Welfare Bureau. Out of 72 nominations by companies in Macau, Ka Kio was recognized as one of the top 10 finalists and received the award at the ceremony.

MGM Culinary Program for Astor Shore: From September 1 to October 7, MGM delivered a culinary mentoring program to 15 students, in collaboration with Sheng Kung Hui Astor Shore. The program was comprised of 8 sessions with a total of 16 hours, aiming to boost the self-esteem of the students and to inspire them to reach for their dreams. 12 professional chefs from both MGM COTAI and MGM MACAU brought to them a structured program, taught them to make not only dishes like sushi and dumplings, but also more advanced desserts like mooncake and puddings. On October 7, MGM held a Graduation Ceremony with a tasting session to enjoy the products prepared by our students, and every one of them received a certificate and souvenirs.
