MGM welcomes the delegation of National Olympic Athletes |
|
The delegation of National Olympic Athletes visited Macau from August 31 to September 2, during which they experienced the vibe of urban living and trendy lifestyle at Barra District. MGM also hosted a warm welcome ceremony for their arrival at MGM MACAU meanwhile bidding them farewell as they completed this trip. Additionally, MGM has prepared tailor-made Leo plush for each athlete, which showcased our sincere gratitude for them bringing great joy and a strong sports spirit to the city.

The “10th MGM Junior Lion Dance Summer Class 2024” completed
|
|
MGM has organized the Junior Lion Dance Summer Class for 10 consecutive years, enabling children to make good use of their leisure time and build up their physical fitness as well as team spirit. The enrollment of the class has tripled this year and MGM increases the number of participants to 100 for more children to learn lion dance. To date, MGM has already trained 640 young lion masters in the past 10 years. Additionally, the graduates of the summer class can join the “MGM Lion Dance Training Program” to further elevate their skills of lion dance. This program has trained nearly 200 lion dance athletes in Macau so far, who actively participate in various competitions, community celebrations as well as school activities. |

MGM Leads 120 Delegates to Foshan for Lion Dance Exchange and Cultural Exploration
|
|
MGM organized the “Lingnan Lion Dance Exchange Tour” to Foshan - the cradleland of the lion dance, with 120 participants of young lion dance masters and their parents from the “MGM Lion Dance Training Program”. During the two-day visit, the delegation participated in in-depth exchange with various Foshan lion dance teams and learned about the craftsmanship of lion heads and drums of lion dance. They also visited Foshan’s cultural and historical landmarks including Liang’s Garden and the Ancestral Temple to help them gain a deep understanding of lion dance culture from its roots. |

“Macau Space Dream Project” concluded |

Organized by MGM, the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau (MAPST) and the Chinese Society of Astronautics (CSA), the “MGM Youth Popular Science series - Macau Space Dream Project” (Project) came to a successful ending. It has attracted nearly 250 students to exercise their scientific and technological creativity and apply aerospace theories during two-month training. As part of the Project, the “International Moon Day” Study Trip in Harbin was also held earlier. A total of 20 outstanding secondary students from the Project experienced a 6-day aerospace science and technology study trip, where they face-to-face communicated with renowned space experts, young scholars and student representatives of this field. This trip also helped broaden the students' horizons and knowledge of the Moon and space technology.

“MGM Youth Popular Science series” enhances students’ scientific knowledge |
|
This year, MGM unveiled the “MGM Youth Popular Science series”, in which MGM not only supported the “2024 Youth High School Science Camp” (Camp) held by the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau (MAPST) and Macau Youth Science Education Association, but also co-organized “Integrated Tourism and Leisure Enterprises Sharing on technology Application” (Sharing) with MAPST. The Camp has brought 160 local high school students to universities, laboratories and enterprises in Macau, deepening their insights in local scientific research and development. Moreover, they also visited six cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Qingdao, and Xiamen to enjoy a variety of distinctive science activities. For the Sharing, Derek Watterud, Vice President of Resort Technology of MGM, has shared the current advanced technology applications in integrated resort and career-developing advice with more than 150 teachers and students from local middle schools. Following that, these participants joined Cyber Security Workshop, Intelligent Back of House Tour and Demystifying “Sea Odyssey Show” prepared by MGM.

MGM holds “The MGM Experience” for 13 Consecutive Years |

MGM hosted its annual summer program “The MGM Experience” for the 13th consecutive year, attracting 200 students from 27 schools this year, which marked the highest participation to date. Led by experienced Golden Lion team members, these participants have studied in various departments, including food and beverage, front desk, bell service, wardrobe & linen, floral, facilities management, resort technology, warehouse, and human resources for two days.

MGM Co-organizes “New Greater Bay Area Youth Exchange Program” |
|
MGM joined hands with the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and the Macau Youth Development Service Center to organize the “New Greater Bay Area Youth Exchange Program” in Hengqin. After two-day visit, the program allowed over 80 local youth to acquire a profound understanding of the industrial, infrastructural, and cultural developments in Hengqin, which inspired them to contribute to the future growth of the Cooperation Zone.

MGM collaborates with various organizations to promote Responsible Gaming |
|
MGM and various local organizations jointly launched a series of highly interesting and interactive initiatives to comprehensively promote responsible gaming. MGM co-organized the “Responsible Gaming Promotion Ambassador Certificate Training Course”, with the Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) and the Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre. This was the first course designed for people outside the gaming industry, with the aim to establish a safety net in different industries for further extending the prevention of gambling disorder in the society. It has attracted 150 participants, who are key members and volunteers from the 8 major unions under the FAOM. Additionally, MGM has partnered with the Macao New Chinese Youth Association to hold the Responsible Gaming Community Carnival, with the support of the Social Welfare Bureau of Macao SAR, the University of Macao and the Macao Polytechnic University. This carnival presented an array of entertaining and educational activities including stage performances and booth games themed on RG and financial planning, in a bid to further deepen the audiences’ understanding in this field. It concluded with the participation of nearly 2,000 residents and tourists.

MGM raises the awareness of Responsible Gaming via interesting and diversified initiatives |
|
MGM rolled out the “MGM Financial Education School Tour 2024 – Hero of Egg Waffle”, aiming to convey positive messages such as the prevention of gaming and financial awareness to the students. It will visit 20 local primary and secondary schools, helping promote the related message to more than 3000 students in every academic year. Moreover, MGM has signed a memorandum of understanding with City University of Macau (CityU) to inaugurate the “Responsible Gaming Campus Promotional Ambassador” Program. It features RG training and lectures at the university campus, in a bid to build up a safety net in the campus and deliver positive information related to finance and RG for the students. Committed to raising public awareness of RG, MGM also launched the “Photo Exhibition of Gaming Industry and Responsible Gaming Promotions in Macau - MGM Special Session”, revolving around three topics – “History of Gaming Industry Development”, “History of Responsible Gaming”, and “Introduction to MGM's Responsible Gaming Initiatives”. It showcased the evolution of Macau’s gaming industry and the city’s social efforts on RG.

This year, MGM has roared once again by showing generosity to the Orbis Charity Raffle 2024, raising MOP107,000 in donation, making the Company the biggest corporate donor in Macau for the 15th consecutive year. Our donation will be used in Orbis' sight saving efforts in preventing and treating avoidable blindness around the world.

As a co-organizer of the Macau International Children's Arts Festival, MGM brought families from various organizations in Macau, along with MGM’s management team, team members and their families, nearly 640 attendees to enjoy the closing performance of the festival - “LU DUAN”. It is the first musical children's play produced by the Palace Museum, where the audiences explored the innovation of technology and history of the Palace Museum.

MGM holds Wellness Festival |
|
MGM held Wellness Festival with the participants of 800 families from six organizations (Macao Federation of Trade Unions, the General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau, the Women's General Association of Macau, Tung Sin Tong, Caritas Macau, and Sheng Kung Hui Macau) and MGM team members. At the event, representatives from Health Bureau, Social Welfare Bureau and Chinese Medicine Association shared valuable health information on physical, mental, and family health. We also offer on-site booths with free Chinese medicine health consultation, vision checks, children's dental and spinal assessment; the Health Station providing checks of over 10 key health indicators; Baduanjin demonstration by professional instructors; workshops on wellness massage cone-making, pediatric Chinese medicine massage instruction and parent-children yoga and so on. MGM health ambassadors also led participants in “Stretching Exercise” sessions to promote the benefits of exercising and encourage everyone to embrace a healthy lifestyle.

Sponsored by MGM and the Cultural Development Fund and organized by the Women's General Association of Macau, the “9th Little Model Fashion Show” was held at MGM Theater. A cast of 45 little models presented a high-quality fashion show where the kids took turns to introduce themselves and perform. Moreover, over ten local fashion designers were invited to design clothing for the little models, in which reflected Macau's unique characteristics and blended traditional Chinese culture with modern art.

We also organized the scam prevention event and a special “Anti-Fraud Ambassador Commendation Ceremony”, aiming to strengthen public awareness against scams.

MGM sponsored the 6th “Macau Outstanding Teenagers” to go to Shanghai and Hangzhou from August 25 to August 30 for an exchange tour. During this tour, they visited MGM Shanghai West Bund and had exchanges with the hotel general manager and core team members in the field of cultural and career development, which offered the deeper knowledge of hotel operations and the career development trends of Shanghai’s teenagers to these participants.

MGM collaborates with the Prince Kung's Palace Museum to promote Chinese traditional culture |
|
MGM and the Prince Kung’s Palace Museum held a signing ceremony for “Magnificent Chinese Traditional Culture Promotional Program” at Prince Kung’s Mansion in Beijing, which was witnessed by Rao Quan, the Party Group Member and Vice-Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Pansy Ho, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Committee of the CPPCC, Vice-President of China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation and Global Promotion Ambassador of Qiandongnan Miao Embroidery. Moving forward, MGM and the Prince Kung’s Palace Museum will jointly build up cultural spaces in Prince Kung's Mansion and Macau’s Barra District respectively, with the inspiration of contemporary art as well as the history of the Mansion and Macau. More cultural happenings and intangible cultural heritage promotion will be held soon.

MGM celebrates Macau’s honor of “Culture City of East Asia 2025”

To celebrate Macau being awarded as the “Culture City of East Asia”, MGM bestowed an art piece onto Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR, which was jointly produced by Matsui, a post-90s emerging illustrator from Japan and Lei Iat Po, the successor of the craft of Macau’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Canton Enamel (Guangcai). This collaboration showcased the craftsmanship of traditional Lingnan painting and modern illustration. Moreover, Lei especially selected a porcelain plate of 30-year history imported from Japan, and painted a cabbage pattern representing “vividness” and “happiness” with Matsui’s lovely illustrations of puppies, together underlining the friendly integration between East Asia and Macau.

MGM launches the Barra District “Summer Hype” series event |
|
MGM unveiled the Barra District “Summer Hype” Series Event this July, marking a new milestone in the area’s revitalization progress. The series is comprised of four major artistic pillars, including the “BERTILO Drifts in Barra”, the “Fantastic Art World from Centre Pompidou: The Plantamouves”, the “Barra District Visual Identity Design Contest” and the “Matsui ‘The Dog’ 1st Overseas Solo Exhibition in Macau”. MGM collaborated with local budding SMEs and creative partners, transforming Barra District into a vibrant hub brimming with trendy, artistic, leisure and retail activities. As the series’ lead-off event, the large-scale public inflatable art installation titled “BERTILO Drifts in Barra”, shaped Lago da Barra into an adorable pink photo-spot. Additionally, MGM teamed up with local F&B SMEs to offer exclusive pink-themed snacks, including Pink Chubby Burger Sticks, Pink Chubby Summer Ice Cream, Canal cover-shaped Pink Grills, and Chubby Custard Bun Drinks. These were to help SMEs boost their business opportunities.

Organized by the MGM, Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Centre Pompidou in France, the exhibition “Fantastic Art World from Centre Pompidou” is one of the highlights of the 1st Macao International Children’s Arts Festival. It features an interactive installation exhibition - “The Plantamouves” – which is held at the Satellite Venue located at the former Barra Slaughterhouse site. “The Plantamouves” with colorful installations not only allows visitors to dance freely, but also leads children onto an artistic journey full of imagination and wonder, helping them to discover and express their uniqueness.

Matsui “The Dog” 1st Overseas Solo Exhibition in Macau |
|
MGM joins hands with a local trendy fashion retail brand THE BIG APPLE to organize Matsui “The Dog” 1st Overseas Solo Exhibition in Macau - the first overseas solo exhibition of Japan’s popular illustrator Mr. Matsui - at Navy Yard No. 1. Alongside the exhibition, a pop-up store has been set up, offering limited-edition products, designed in collaboration with Japanese fashion brand BEAMS and international accessory brand CASETiFY. These items include pet-themed merchandise. MGM has also introduced an array of new happenings at Navy Yard No. 2, including a pet-friendly coffee shop run by the local specialty café brand COTIZ, a local pet product SME Dog Inn, another local SME specializing in artisanal pet food and care products - Petly Duffy - to set up its first offline store, as well as organizing weekly DIY workshops taught by local artists. Besides, MGM leverages both indoor and outdoor spaces to create a large pet-friendly venue, including an outdoor “Dog Park”, and introduces a weekend “Pet Shuttle” to offer transportation service for dog owners and their pets.

Barra District Logo and Visual Identity Design Contest |
|
MGM collaborates with the Macao Illustrators Association to launch the “Barra District Logo and Visual Identity Design Contest”. This initiative, comprising “Student Group” and “Open Group”, received a total of 78 design entries. The winning designs not only are publicly exhibited at the Former Barra Slaughterhouse Site Corridor, but also have the opportunity to be adopted into the district’s development. To help participants better understand the cultural and historical significance of Barra District, MGM hosted dedicated “Introduction Tours”, in which professional guides introduce the area’s buildings, maritime history, and industrial heritage, offering participants firsthand insights into the district’s transformation.

“Shop Macau Fun Macau!” Campaign |
|
MGM has collaborated with the Industrial Association of Macau (AIM) and BOC Macau to roll out the “MGM Macau Premium Product Promotion Program 2024 - Shop Macau Fun Macau! Campaign” (Campaign), with the support of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) of Macao SAR. The Campaign was designed to distribute e-coupons through the BOC Macau App, conducive to maximizing sales and recognition of Macau products, and establishing the reputation for local brands. It spanned from July 20 to August 31, 2024, in which MinMPlaza MOP25 e-coupons were distributed daily via the BOC Macau App. Once a single purchase of MOP75 or above at MinMPlaza was made and paid with the BOC Macau App, the customer could enjoy an instant MOP25 deduction with this e-coupon.

MGM organizes a visit in Cooperation Zone Site for Macau SMEs |

This year, MGM and the Guangdong Office of the Macao Chamber of Commerce jointly launched the “MGM SME Program 2024: Seizing Business Opportunities in Cooperation Zone”. Following the opening ceremony and the introductory session of this program, MGM also organized a “SMEs Cooperation Zone Site Visit” on August 30, inviting 22 Macau SMEs with 44 participants to join. During the tour, we visited enterprises in the Cooperation Zone and met with the representatives from the Economic Development Bureau, Commercial Services Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Macao Chamber of Commerce, which allowed Macau SMEs to understand the business environment, the upcoming development and the supporting policies of the Cooperation Zone and seize the opportunities from the integration between Macau and Hengqin.

MGM and ICAMO jointly organize the “2024 Work Hand-in-Hand to Explore the Future of the Greater Bay Area” |
|
Organized by MGM and the Industry and Commerce Association of Macau(ICAMO), the “2024 Work Hand-in-Hand to Explore the Future of the Greater Bay Area” included the Greater Bay Area business matching and sharing sessions held in Macau as well as the “2024 Macau Premium Product Center” at Zhengjia Plaza International Shopping Festival Market in Guangzhou. These aim to introduce potential Macau SMEs to the GBA. A total of 50 enterprises from Macau and the GBA have joined in the GBA business matching, revolving around the industries of food, alcohol, health, new media, technology, logistics and retail, etc. Meanwhile, MGM has brought more than 190 unique Macau products from 29 local companies to the “2024 Macau Premium Product Center”, presenting products of Made-in-Macau, Macau brand, Macau design, Lusophone characteristics and “M-Mark”.

MGM Hosts Sharing Session the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and Inspiration for Macau |

As part of ongoing MGM’s continuous dedication to national education, we co-hosted a sharing session entitled “MGM National Education Series – Sharing on the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and Inspiration for Macao’s Development” with the University of Macau’s Centre for Continuing Education on September 5. The session began with a sharing by Pansy Ho, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairperson and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited. Invited speakers included Henry Lei, Associate Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Finance and Business Economics at the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Macau and Edmund Loi, President of the Macau Youth Greater Bay Area Development Association, who shared the key messages from the Plenary Session with around 260 audiences, including MGM management members and students from the University of Macau. Enabling Macau's tourism industry and youth to gain a deeper understanding of the core requirements of the Plenary Session, the event helped them better deploy their roles and align with the pace of the country's comprehensive deepening of reforms. Furthermore, we should leverage Macau's strengths and serve the Nation's needs, then build a strong country and support national rejuvenation jointly.

MGM hosts the “Celebration of MGM Continuing Education Journey”

MGM organized the “Celebration of MGM Continuing Education Journey” (Celebration) to commend the new batch of graduates from “MGM High School Diploma Program”. In addition, MGM signed a memorandum of understanding - “Diversified Development Program of Talent Management and Cultivation” - with Macau Institute of Management, unveiling an in-house four-year bachelor’s degree program. This partnership makes MGM the first integrated resort operator to run an in-house bachelor’s degree program with local educational institutions.

MGM organized the “2024 MGM Employee Culinary Contest”, which offers its employees the opportunity to showcase their culinary skills while celebrating Macau's diverse and vibrant food culture. Themed on “Hometown Dishes”, the competition was open to non-chef full-time team members and divided into two categories: “Chinese Hometown Dish” and “Non-Chinese Hometown Dish”. Over a hundred MGM team members from different countries and regions took part in the competition, which also helped foster cultural exchange among these participants.

MGM strongly believes that the future of the MICE sector lies in the seamless integration of smart technologies and sustainable practices, so that the Company partnered with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) to launch an innovative MICE capacity-building program aimed at equipping current and future professionals in Macau's MICE industry with the necessary skills and latest knowledge. Under the theme of “MGM & PATA Forum – The Future of Tourism, Hospitality and MICE”, the program drew nearly 330 participants, including government officials, MICE practitioners, members of the PATA Macau Chapter, university students, professors, staff members of Macau’s integrated resorts, as well as MGM team members.

The MGM “Celebrating Family Love” roadshow was held in the back of house area of MGM COTAI and MGM MACAU, with the support of the Social Welfare Bureau, the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau, the Women's General Association of Macau and Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Service Coordination Office. During the event, we underline the importance of family education to our team members via game booths, questionnaires, counseling services with professional counselors, family education exhibition boards and videos that prepared by the supporting units.

MGM joins hands with the Macao Science Center (MSC) to launch the three-year “Sustainable Development Innovation & Technology and Green Skills Education Campaign” (Campaign), to organize a series of science popularization activities themed on science and green development. Focusing on science popularization and innovation, this Campaign features activities, workshops, competitions and the establishment of Macau's first educational space focused on youth green skills. We hope to enhance the participants’ knowledge, skills, values, and perspectives in this field while contributing to elevating Macau into an eco-friendlier society.

MGM Becomes the First Integrated Resort Operator in Macau to Commit to WELL at Scale |

By making health and wellness a priority, the two integrated resorts of MGM - MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI - will commit to WELL at Scale and pursue multiple certifications under the WELL system, making MGM the first integrated resort operator in Macau to embrace such kind of international standard. To ensure effective implementation of the certification project, MGM representatives attended the “WELL 2024 Summit” in Hong Kong, where they exchanged ideas with experts on healthy buildings and sustainability. At early stage, MGM arranged for team members from the Sustainability and Facility Management departments to undergo WELL AP training and gain their international qualifications, in order to ensure effective implementation of the certification project.
