“Macao: Back to Common Roots Narrative Film” tells Stories of Macau at MGM Theater
MGM and Macau’s acclaimed artist Lok Hei collaborate to present the “Macao: Back to Common Roots Narrative Film” (Film) at MGM Theater. Following the launch of the documentary “Back to Common Roots” made for the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Macau SAR and “Back to Common Roots Orchestra Concert” in 2019, the production team remodeled the majestic 100-meter-long scroll painting — Lok’s magnum opus featuring his artistic trademark using fiber pens — into an innovative, digitalized version screened at MGM Theater.

Chronicling the transformation of Macau over the past centuries, the Film is a potent tool of patriotic education that deepens the understanding of history for residents, especially the youths. The Film is now on view at MGM Theater till the end of this year, first open to education institutions, government departments and community associations. It has received nearly 3,000 local audiences in the first quarter of 2022.

Dedicated to promoting the development of “Tourism + Sports” initiative, MGM always gives its undivided support to Macau in hosting diverse sports events. MGM became the title sponsor of “2022 MGM Macao International Regatta”, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau and Ursa Major Sailing Event Management. Participated by 35 teams from different regions, the success of this large-scale, international regatta heralded a new era for Macau’s marine sports, which also helped strengthening Macau’s positioning as the “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”.

“Building a Sustainable Future: Post Pandemic Life in the Greater Bay Area and beyond” Forum
MGM and Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) co-organized the “Building a Sustainable Future: Post Pandemic Life in the Greater Bay Area and beyond” forum, taken place both online and offline. As a part of the celebratory events of M.U.S.T.’s 22nd anniversary, the forum has gathered scholars and leaders from around the globe to take part in the conversation of promoting sustainable development with innovation in the post-pandemic era.

Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic & Financial Officer of MGM, was also invited to participate in the panel discussion session with other leaders of integrated tourism and leisure enterprises and scholars, where they have exchanged ideas on the challenges and future of sustainable development. He introduced MGM’s green practices and endeavors in promoting sustainable tourism, and indicated his hope for collaborating with industry peers in the GBA to boost the development of low carbon and sustainable tourism.
Women of Industry and Commerce Sectors Celebrated International Women’s Day at MGM COTAI
The Organizing Committee of International Women’s Day Celebration by Women of Industry and Commerce Sectors visited MGM COTAI and watched the “Macao: Back to Common Roots Narrative Film”. The group was welcomed by Pansy Ho, Co-Chairperson & Executive Director of MGM China Limited Holdings, who is also Honorary President of the Committee, as well as Lok Hei, Producer of the Film.

On the same day, Lau Kam Ling, Chairwoman of the Women's General Association of Macau and the Executive Chairman of the Committee and other committees, met up with Pansy Ho to exchange their insights on the development of women associations in both Hong Kong and Macau, as well as women’s role in contributing to national development and international affairs. Both parties indicated their hope of strengthening their partnerships to encourage more women to take part in patriotic promotion and community work.
“MGM Family Carnival” Fostered Harmonious Family Ties
MGM organized its first community event in the Year of the Tiger — “MGM Family Carnival”. Through a series of educational interactive games and family-friendly workshops, the carnival aims to help strengthen family bonds and bring happiness to the community. Besides, MGM also organized SME roadshow selling art and cultural products, stage performances by team members and various associations. The two-day event attracted approximately 1,300 participants in total.
Organized CNY Festivities for Seniors for 11 Consecutive Years
MGM has carried on its long-standing philanthropic tradition to give out Chinese New Year (CNY) care and blessings to the elderly for the 11th year in a row. As usual, the Golden Lion Volunteer Team offered free haircuts to seniors and conducted Spring Cleaning at several elderly centers. With an aim to foster intergenerational inclusion in society, MGM launched a new Fai Chun workshop, where local youths could unleash their artistic knack and deliver CNY blessings to seniors.

2,800 Team Members Graduated at “MGM Graduation Ceremony 2022”
MGM hosted the “MGM Graduation Ceremony 2022” at MGM Theater to celebrate the graduation of 2,800 team members who graduated from various talent development programs. At the event, MGM also collaborated with Macao Government Tourism Office, Macao Institute for Tourism Studies and Macao Federation of Trade Unions as co-organizing units; and Macau Cuisine Association as a supporting unit to roll out the "‘Tourism+’ Cultural Diversity Development Exchange Initiative" — a scheme that will usher in a series of strategic training programs, intended to nurture multi-talented industry practitioners and deepen “Tourism+” synergy in Macau and the Greater Bay Area .
Sharing Session on National People's Congress and National Political Consultative Conference
MGM organized the “MGM National and Cultural Education Series – Sharing Session on National People's Congress and National Political Consultative Conference” to help team members and local youth better grasp the spirit of the “Two Sessions”. At the event attended by 180 team members on-site as well as teachers and students from three local universities online, Chui Sai Peng, Deputy Head of the Macau Delegation to the NPC and member of the 7th Legislative Assembly of Macau; Ho Sut Heng, Macau Deputy of the NPC and President of Macau Federation of Trade Unions; Lok Po, Macau Deputy of the NPC and Director of Macao Daily News; Ho Teng Iat, Deputy Director of the Committee on Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Member of the Standing Committee of the All-China Women's Federation, and Permanent Chairwoman of the Women's General Association of Macau shed light on the Nation’s key development directions, enlightening participants with the key messages of the Two Sessions, encouraging them to forge ahead and seize the substantial opportunities arising from the Nation’s development.
Extended its National & Cultural Education Series to Promote Macau History and Chinese Culture
MGM partnered with Oral History Association of Macao and Hall of Culture to organize the “MGM National & Cultural Education Series: Symposium on the Intricacies & Charm of Macau History and Culture”, POP-UP MACAU Book Donation Ceremony and Launch of Macau Youth History & Culture Series, which attracted over 150 MGM team members, association members, representatives of the academia and local students to participate.

MGM made a donation of POP-UP MACAU, a 3D illustration story book published by Professor Lam Fat Iam, President of Oral History Association of Macao and Director of School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Macao Polytechnic Institute, to 77 local kindergartens, primary and secondary schools. Macau Youth History & Culture Series organized by MGM, Oral History Association and IFTM, was also confirmed to take place in the second half of this year.

Explore Green Development Opportunities with Young Entrepreneurs
The “MGM x MYEIC Young Entrepreneur Nurturing Program”, co-organized by MGM, Parafuturo de Macau and Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre, extends into its second edition to continue nurturing local young entrepreneurs. First sharing session of this latest edition, themed “Go Green for Infinite Opportunities”, introduced the emission reduction initiatives of an integrated resort hotel and its green purchasing needs to nearly 100 MYEIC members, young entrepreneurs, small and medium businesses (SME) owners and other participants. Comprised of a sharing session and a hotel back-of-house green tour, the event enabled participants to learn more about the sustainable development of integrated tourism and leisure enterprises.
