MGM received three HR Awards by HRoot in Greater China: For two years in a row, MGM has been named one of the Best HR Teams in Greater China. And for the first time ever, we are named the Best HR Center of Excellence in Greater China in recognition of our Learning and Development team. In addition, our Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Ms. Wendy Yu, received the Outstanding Achievement Award of Human Resource Management, one of the most coveted honors for HR professionals in recognition of her stellar career in pushing boundaries of talent management and strategy.

Tria Spa at MGM COTAI recognized in SpaChina Awards:Tria Spa at MGM COTAI has recently won the “Best Spa Treatment Package of the Year” Award for its “Day and Night / Black and White Truffle Deluxe Journey” at the SpaChina Awards Ceremony 2019, one of the industry’s most anticipated annual award in China. Incorporating two luxurious ingredients, this much-loved unique and innovative treatment package is curated by the talented Tria Spa team that treats the body and mind from the inside out, day and night.

Named the best employer of tourism and hospitality industry: We were awarded “Best Employer of Tourism & Hospitality Industry” by VeryEast, a prominent HR solution firm based in Shenzhen. Our close partner, Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality, also received this award, cementing our mutual commitment to become the employer of choice in the industry.

Celebrating Enduring Love at“Love Moments”: Being one of the highlights of the seventh consecutive MGM Community Care Campaign, MGM organized “Love Moments” for 20 elderly couples on September 17, where they had their first-ever wedding photos taken at the Spectacle of MGM COTAI, celebrating enduring love and beautiful life memories. It was also to show appreciation for their past contributions to the community, right in this year of Double Celebration.

Jinggang Jinggang Community Workshop was held on September 22 at MGM COTAI. 80 local dancing enthusiasts were offered an opportunity to enhance their dancing skills and to engage with state-class dancers from the Youth Dance Company of Beijing Dance Academy (DBA), who are the dancers of the Chinese folk dance drama Jinggang Jinggang. During the workshop, the dancers of BDA shared their professional dancer journey, and taught a piece of Han Chinese folk dance Northeast Yangge to the participants in small groups. The workshop was concluded with a group performance.

MGM Graduation 2019 took place on September 10 to celebrate the learning accomplishments of nearly 1,200 team members. Graduates this year have completed various training programs, including PRIDE Program, continuing education courses, and other professional skills and vocational training programs. In 2018, MGM provided more than 917,000 training hours with an average of 85 hours per team member, outperforming its industry peers.

MGM Learning Month 2019 officially kicked off on September 18 with a month of enriching activities. Team members were offered plenty of learning opportunities provided by MGM Academy plus other local and regional professional education institutes, including professional development courses, interest classes, seminars and fun workshops, making everyone’s learning journey a substantial and enjoyable one.

Appreciation dinner for 10 Service Year team members: On September 25, a celebration banquet was held at the MGM COTAI ballroom to celebrate the ten years of service provided by 160 of team members. All 10 Service Year team members received a set of certificate and silver coin in recognition of their contribution to the Company. Besides, 170 members from the MGM Sports Teams and the Volunteer Team were invited in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contribution. Our management team and department representatives were also invited to spend a great night together with fun games, singing and dancing performance and a lucky draw. The dinner brought back everyone’s fond memories of the past years with MGM as a family.

Crime prevention workshop: Recognizing the importance of committing and raising awareness in crime prevention, MGM Academy has partnered with the Judiciary Police (JP) for the first time to organize the Seminar on Crime Prevention for over 100  team members, where speakers in different functions of the JP shared different topics such as theft, robbery, internet crime, etc.

MGM Celebration of Macau’s 20th Anniversary Series – Seminar on the Evolution of Macau in the Past 20 Years” took place on September 25, where we partnered with Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) again to give a seminar for our team members. Speakers from DSEC explored the development of Macau over the past 20 years with interesting statistical evidence and examples. Participating team members gained a better understanding on the changes of tourism and gaming industry in the past 20 important years of our city. The talk provided our team members with a new perspective and the data could be used for driving strategic business decisions in the future.

An explanatory session on the new casino entry ban by DICJ was given to 130 MGM team members and junket employees. Mr. Leong Man Ion, Deputy Director of DIJC explained that the new legislation of restricting casino workers from entering casinos outside working hours was designed to curb problem gaming. Taking effect on December 27, it is integral to Macau's effort to promote responsible gaming.

Gaming Industry Family Fun Day: We are pleased take part and operated a fun game booth in the “Gaming Industry Family Fun Day”, organized by the Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre under the Macao Federation of Trade Unions on September 21. With series of game booths and family activities, this event provided a chance for employees to relax and spend time with their families outside their busy work lives.

Explore the Greater Bay Area – Guangzhou: Following our last visit to Shenzhen, 22 management team members stepped into Guangzhou to learn about the local development with the support of the Economic Department of China Liaison Office. The group visited some renowned cultural, historical, technological and art destinations, including the Guangdong Museum, the Guangzhou Opera House, and the headquarter of the leading internet technology company in China – NetEase. The group was welcomed by the HK-Macau Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, greatly increasing connectivity and integration of the Greater Bay Area.

Jinggang Jinggang premiered in Macau: In this year of Double Celebration, MGM presented the Chinese folk dance drama Jinggang Jinggang with Henry Fok Foundation, Beijing Dance Academy (BDA) and Macau Dancers Association, enrapturing the Macau public for the very first time on September 20 and 21 at MGM Theater, MGM COTAI. Performed by the dancers of the Youth Dance Company of BDA, Jinggang Jinggang illustrates hardships the Chinese Red Army encountered during the days of war at the Jinggang Mountains, the cradle of Chinese revolution. Through re-creating the vivid historical stories, the performance sets a ground for the audiences to better understand the history of the Chinese revolution, while fostering national identity and pride.
