Recognized as the Most Honored Company by Institutional Investor: For the fifth consecutive year, MGM has been recognized by the leading financial publication, Institutional Investor, as the “Most Honored Company” in the 2019 All-Asia Executive Team survey. MGM received honors in all polled categories under the Gaming & Lodging sector and swept up 15 awards in total, demonstrating the Company's strength and industry recognition as one of the most influential teams in the sector and the region.

“Hotel Sustainability Practice” Sharing at the University of Macau: On August 28, 2019, Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College of the University of Macau invited Bernard Cheng, our Assistant Director of Sustainability to give a lunch seminar entitled “Hotel Sustainability Practice”. Bernard pointed out that hotel sustainability has become part of the business strategy, and mentioned many different ways to reduce the carbon footprint in the hotel industry, such as utilizing electric car, incorporating natural lighting into the architecture and phasing out plastic straws. He concluded the talk with encouraging student to live a sustainable lifestyle.

The 7th MGM Community Care Campaign was concluded with more than 300 volunteers participating in our heart-warming activities. Some highlights of the series of campaigns include:


Love Moments at Spectacle, where we brought together 20 elderly couples for a romantic wedding photo and video shooting at the Spectacle. All the couples will be invited back to MGM COTAI for a special ceremony in September.


With our signature Haircut for Love, more than 200 senior citizens received complimentary haircut services in three consecutive days from our volunteer team who had received professional haircut trainings.


Over 2,500 scarves have been pledged by our team members in Weaving for Warmth.


We had fun with over 20 Fuhong Society members in Art Creativity Workshops such as Polymer Clay and Terrarium workshops.


Over 40 volunteers, including in-house Chefs, have participated in Fun Culinary Day together with kids between 6-10 years old to make delicious desserts and spread joy by sharing the products.


We also enjoyed paddling with the amazing athletes from Macau Special Olympics in our new Community Care Campaign program called Dragon Boat Inclusion Experience.


Last but not least, our chefs and the winners from MGM Employee Culinary Contest have joined us in Cook for Love to prepare healthy and delicious meals for over 100 senior citizens.

MGM Career Experience Day: On August 2, MGM organized a Career Experience Day for over 40 local fresh graduates. During the visit, they met leaders of the Company, took a tour of our property (including Back of House) and obtained advice for career planning. The fresh graduates were further invited to a 'MGM One Day Career Exposure' where they worked at departments of their interests for a day, under the mentorship of our department heads.

The 5th Macau Outstanding Teenagers Award: The Fifth Macau Outstanding Teenagers Award Presentation Ceremony was held at MGM COTAI’s Grand Ballroom on August 17. Organized by the Young Men's Christian Association of Macau (YMCA) and supported by the Social Welfare Bureau of Macau (IAS) and MGM, this award ceremony recognized a total of 10 outstanding teenagers and 5 outstanding performance award winners for their positive outlook towards life.

Equips Community for Typhoon Season: MGM continues to spread the care for the community by preparing thoughtfully designed typhoon emergency kits for SMEs and elderly. Throughout July and August, our Golden Lion Volunteer Team and distributed over 400 kits to SMEs in low-lying areas as well as elderly from União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau (UGAMM), the Women’s General Association of Macau and Caritas Macau, getting them prepared for possible adverse situation during the typhoon season.

International Lion Dance Championship 2019: On August 21, MGM hosted a press conference to announce that “MGM Lion Dance Championship – Macau International Invitational 2019” will take place on November 23 and 24, gathering lion dance teams from all over the world to perform and compete with each other. The two-day action-packed Championship will also include the “Female Traditional Lion Dance Championship” and the “Junior Lion Dance Performance Competition”, which was launched just last year. The event is co-hosted by Wushu General Association of Macau and honorably supported by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) and Sports Bureau (SB).

Junior Lion Dance 2019 Graduation: Co-organized by Hong Wai Dragon & Lion Dance Association Macau and supported by MGTO, DSEJ and SB, the “Junior Lion Dance Training Program 2019” was concluded on August 21 with a graduation ceremony. Upon completion of the 7 week training, 76 new little masters aged between 5 to 8 received their certificates and performed for over 200 audiences on the ceremony.

Love Propagation Series Activities: Jointly organized by Macau Women's General Association, Macau Union Suppliers Association, Macau Northern Area Industrial and Commercial Association, BNU and the Dah Chong Hong Supermarket and MGM, the two-day event took place on August 31 and September 1 was packed with activities promoting social inclusion, while celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC and 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR. A number of Hong Kong and Macau artists were invited to an elderly visit, followed by a charity basketball match where they competed with local players. The event was well concluded by the Appreciation Award Dinner sponsored by MGM, gathering a party of over 190 people to build a better community together.

MGM Responsible Gaming Roadshow and Workshop were held throughout August and September at the back of house of both MGM properties to raise our team members’ awareness on gambling addiction. Through games, quizzes and counseling session, team members were able to learn how to identify people with gambling disorder, to gain understanding of the mentality behind their problems, and most importantly to get tips on providing proper support.

IFT x MGM Culinary Diploma: To tighten our partnership with local professional institute, and to contribute to Macau’s positioning as the creative city of gastronomy, on August 14, MGM has partnered with IFT to launch the joint-diploma in Professional Cookery and Food Preparation, becoming the first gaming operator in Macau to offer this program to its employee.

Visiting “Mao Zedong Emerged in China” photography exhibition: On September 6, MGM has organized a visit for a group of over 30 team members to the “Mao Zedong Emerged in China” photography exhibition in celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (“PRC”) and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, today at the Handover Gift Museum of Macao. The visit aimed to raise participating team members’ awareness of the country’s developments in the past, the present and the future through learning more about the story of Chairman Mao’s life.

The Butterfly Lovers 60th Anniversary and the 1st He Zhanhao Guzheng World Competition took place at MGM Theater, MGM COTAI on August 6. Hosted by the legendary Chinese composer, Mr. He Zhanhao, and his studio and co-organized by MGM, the event celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of Macau SAR with the grand premiere of Mr. He Zhanhao latest music works in Macau.

Art Macau: Artist Talk. On August 28, we welcomed nearly 200 guests from different fields to MGM COTAI, exchanging ideas on different aspect of art and the city of Macau. Co-organized by ICM and MGM, the talk has invited Mr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture; Ms. Mok Ian Ian, President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau; Mr. Cheng Wai Tong, Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, and several prestige guest speakers from the field of art and culture to hold discussions on how to develop traditional culture in new artistic forms, stimulate artists and youths to have creative inspiration and create works of art with local values, thus bringing Macao art to the world.

The Grand Finale of Hua Yuan - Paradise Interrupted unfolded to enchant full house of spectators at MGM Theater of MGM COTAI on August 29 and 31. An unconventional one-act installation opera that blended 600-year-old Kun opera with Western opera, Paradise Interrupted integrated opera, theater, dance, music, poetry and interactive media into one entity. With the ultra-high resolution LED screen of MGM Theater, a new interpretation of the captivating story of a woman’s quest for love in a surreal garden was presented.
