MGM was delighted to receive several awards recognizing MGM’s approaches to sustainability:
On May 3, MGM’s Facilities Management team was awarded with the “Asia Pacific Best Innovation Award” by the International Facility Management Association Hong Kong Chapter at the Asia-Pacific Facility Management Awards. The award recognizes MGM’s outstanding achievements in optimizing building performance, resource efficiency and improving service quality using data driven approaches.

On May 5, MGM was awarded with the “Best of the Best: Social Caring Organization Award” at the 6th Social Caring Pledge Scheme Award organized by Social Enterprise Research Institute of Hong Kong.

On May 15, MGM received the award for “Best Corporate Social Responsibility Contribution” for its leading contribution in the area of corporate social responsibility in Asia at the Asia Gaming Awards Ceremony, co-organized by G2E Asia and Inside Asian Gaming.

On May 18, at the 5th anniversary ceremony of the Macau European Chamber of Commerce, MGM COTAI received the “Euroexcellence Award” for its dedication to bringing international fine arts to Macau, as well as for developing Asia’s first dynamic theatre.

On May 29, MGM won the accolade for “Best HR Teams in Greater China” at the HRoot Awards 2018 in Beijing, organized by HRoot, one of the largest human resources media companies in China. MGM was acknowledged for the company’s commitment to driving innovation in human resources and staff development.

Celebrating top chef talent: On May 17, Handika Indra Setiawan, Chef de Partie at Coast, MGM COTAI’s California-style restaurant, won the 9th Macanese Cooking Competition 2018, co-organized by the Institute for Tourism Studies and the Macau Culinary Association.

Promoting the importance of wellbeing: On May 20, MGM launched the 3-week “Healthy Mind, Healthy Life Campaign”, with a wide array of wellbeing-related activities. Approximately 10,000 team members (including their family members) took part in the campaign where they learned about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, both at work and at home.

The Campaign kicked off with “5.20 - Let’s Walk for Love”, co-organized by the Fuhong Society of Macau and MGM, including a 3km walk with the core aim to promote social inclusion and create awareness on mental health. It was then followed by a series of fun-filled events across MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI, including a “Health Fun Day”, a series of health and wellness seminars held by professionals, a “Chinese Medical Consultation Day”, as well as a unique event celebrating “World Challenge Day 2018” with a large-scale fitness exercise led by MGM’s gym fitness trainers as well as our company CEO, Mr. Grant Bowie.

MGM sponsors crisis intervention lecture: On May 2-3, MGM sponsored and supported the “Certificate Course on Critical Incident Stress Management” organized by the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office. Ms. Lee Wai Wah, Service Director of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council and approved instructor of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, provided information on effective crisis intervention and post-disaster and stress management to local social workers and counselors from Sheng Kung Hui, local social services, and MGM team members.

Sharing professional insights: On May 8 and 11, MGM welcomed over 110 students from Macau University of Science and Technology and Sheng Kung Hui to inspire and encourage interest in field of hospitality. A special talk on F&B was given by MGM’s Pastry Chef, Neo Ng. The talk also included a behind-the-scenes tour of MGM to experience a 5-star resort in operation.

Supporting sustainable tourism: On May 25, to achieve sustainable tourism development, MGM supported the workshop on “Capacity Building for Destination Marketing & Tourism Development”, the 5th workshop in a series co-organized by the Institute for Tourism Studies’ Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training and the United Nations World Tourism Organization entitled.

Kicking-off coffee capsule recycling: In partnership with Nespresso, MGM has launched a new coffee capsule recycling scheme. From now on, capsules from MGM’s rooms, restaurants and offices that use Nespresso coffee machines will now be recycled.

‘Vienna Flute Mozartet’ performs at MGM COTAI: On May 12, MGM welcomed the “Vienna Flute Mozartet” from the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic to perform at a concert organized by the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra Association. The concert, held at MGM COTAI, received a tumultuous response from the audience of more than 300 who were delighted with works by Mozart, Schubert, Roussel and Reger.
