Create A Better Tomorrow Today
WELCOME TO OUR MGM SUSTAINABILITY NEWSLETTER
We’re doing a lot behind the scenes at MGM to reduce our impact on the environment and support the people that mean the most to us, including all our employees and community. Contributing to a better Macau through our arts and culture program is also an important aspect of our approach. Through this newsletter we will share our monthly sustainability highlights with you, and hope you will join us in our sustainability programs to help us Create a Better Tomorrow Today.

Sharing care and kindness during Chinese New Year: In spirit of the Chinese tradition to spring clean the home before CNY as a symbol of good luck and fortune, MGM teamed up with Centro de Dia “Brilho da Vida” to help in the festive activity. On February 9, MGM’s 180 Volunteer Team members rolled up their sleeves to help over 220 households at the Fai Chi Kei housing unit for senior citizens to get their homes ready for the New Year. At the end of each spring clean, the traditional Fai Chun red banners were placed on doorways and windows and specially-designed New Year goodie bags were given to wish households a healthy and prosperous Year of the Dog. A further 1,200 gift sets were distributed to 13 local community associations.

From January 31 to February 6, 11 of MGM’s volunteers who took part in a two-month professional hair dressing training course, provided complimentary haircuts to a total of 80 senior citizens at two local elderly centers, Centro de Dia Brilho da Vida and Complexo de Apoio à Família e de Serviço Co-munitário de Seac Pai Van da UGAMM.

A meaningful gift for Chinese New Year (CNY) and Valentine’s Day: On February 12-14, MGM hosted a staff sale in support of the community organization, Fuhong Society, offering plantspotted plants and flower bouquets crafted by special needs members of Fuhong – ensuring a gift from the heart not only to our loved ones, but also to the community. From February 16-18, we also treated our guests to a gift that gives back to the community. All in-room guests were surprised with CNY fortune pockets, consisting of brightly-colored, hand-stitched bags containing festive cookies and mini cupcakes, all of which were prepared by persons with learning disabilities in association with Fuhong Society of Macau and Sem Meng Chi Restaurant.

It also helps to keep everyone updated on green news and new green events coming up.

Hotel room recycling: From February 28, a special recycling insert has been added to MGM MACAU to allow our guests to join MGM’s recycling program (which is already underway during normal guest room cleaning). This now ensures that MGM MACAU and COTAI are set up with guest recycling facilities.
