Walk for a Million 2017: On December 10, MGM sponsored and participated in Macau’s major annual charity event “Walk for a Million”, run by Readers of Macao Daily News Charity Fund. 1,000 of MGM team members joined together to participate in this great cause, with the Company donating MOP600,000 in support.

A fun-filled workshop with Fuhong Society: On December 4, MGM invited 30 members from the Fuhong Society to MGM MACAU’s newest and most innovative art exhibition yet - the “Learn & Play! teamLab Future Park”. The group watched their own drawings come to life through a giant digital screen, and enjoyed games among the interactive light installations.

Experience day with MPI: On December 5, MGM and Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) co-organized an industry-sharing event for a group of 30 students from various fields in the run up to MPI’s “Career Day 2018”. During the day MGM provided an industry introduction, and company overview and tour to give the students a better understanding of the job market and industry in Macau.

Student ideas competition: on December 2 (the day that marks the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery), MGM arranged a competition for local students to propose innovative and creative ideas to address modern slavery in our day-to-day lives and create feasible action plans for their implementation.

5 groups were chosen as finalists to compete from the University of Macau, University of Saint Joseph and University of Science and Technology of Macau. Congratulations to University of Macau as the winner! The team’s ideas will be sponsored by the Macao Government, and supported by the Good Shepherd Centre, for implementation in 2018.

The 10th Macau Special Olympics Occupational Skills Contest: On December 28, MGM, along with the Social Welfare Bureau, the Labor Affairs Bureau, and other local businesses, supported the “Macau Special Olympics Occupational Skills Contest Award Ceremony”, organized by Macau Special Olympics. Over the last 10 years, the event has supported career advancement opportunities for 1,700 persons with disabilities in Macau.

Seminar on the Labor Relations Law: On December 9, MGM MACAU, the Youth Entrepreneur Association and the Labour Affairs Bureau collaborated to organize the Seminar on the Labor Relations Law in Macau to help both employers and employees to recognize their own labor rights and responsibilities.

Green Champions recognized at the Green Team Christmas Party: On December 15, MGM celebrated an eco-Christmas at the Green Team Christmas party, with a special recognition paid to MGM’s Green Champions this year. The awarded trophies were made from recycled MGM water bottles and were presented to 9 dedicated team members that have gone above and beyond to support green events and initiatives in 2017.

Have you set your Green New Year’s Resolution? Many of our team members have included green resolutions in their New Year’s plans. Shawn Ng, Executive Director of Hotel Operations, will carry his own water bottle to reduce plastic bottles usage; Jimmy Chio, Director of Housekeeping, will always switch off the lights when leaving the room; and Edmond Choi, Executive Director Facilities Management Operations, will be bringing his own reusable shopping bag to the shops instead of using plastic bags.

MGM turns 10! MGM MACAU officially turned 10 on December 18. To celebrate the 1,900 team members that have stayed with us right from the beginning, MGM organized a gala celebration to mark this important milestone, also including a 10-year service certificate and a limited edition commemorative silver coin as a token of appreciation.

The senior management team also sincerely thanked the whole MGM family for their continued hard work and dedication by serving an extra special menu at the Employee Dining Room as well as offering 600 team members and their families’ complimentary access to the “Learn and Play! teamLab Future Park”, MGM’s first interactive and digital art exhibition.

Outstanding volunteers: On December 2, four MGM volunteers were recognized for outstanding contributions to the community. These include Chan Kuai Fun from Housekeeping, Che Sao Meng from Food & Beverage and Lou Man Heng from Table Games who were awarded the "Excellent Rainbow Life Volunteer Award" from the Youth Volunteers Association of Macau; and also Lily Sou from Table Games who was recognized with the "Unwavering Commitment to Volunteerism Award" at the 2017 Outstanding Volunteer Election organized by the Association of Volunteers Social Service Macao.

Congratulations to 3 MORS Gold Pin winners! 3 MGM team members were recognized with Gold Pin Awards at the “Macao Occupational Skills Recognition System” (MORS) Gold Pin Competition. The Competition, which is Macau’s most prestigious hospitality competition, provides a platform to contestants to demonstrate their professional skills and pit their talent against the best in the industry. MGM had 16 outstanding team members participating in this competition, and 6 finalists successfully entered the final rounds. Congratulations to Ke Yushan, Front Office Attendant; Li Jianhui, Chef de Partie; and Uy Jacquilyn Ello, Food & Beverage Captain!
