Spotlighting social inclusion during the Macau Special Olympics Golf Masters: On April 26, MGM sponsored and hosted the Conference on Inclusion of Intellectually Challenged in Asia’s Modern Society, organized by the Charity Association of Macau Business Readers. The conference highlighted the importance of sport as a transformative tool that builds teamwork and acceptance, helping to create a more welcoming world for us all, where our individual differences are appreciated and respected. Among many distinguished guests and speakers, the conference welcomed the key note speaker Mr. Wilfried Lemke, the United Nations Special Advisor on Sport for Development and Peace.

This conference was held in parallel with the Special Olympics Golf Masters, which took place on April 27-29, and welcomed athletes to Macau from around the world. Several of our senior executives, including our CEO, paired up with the Special Olympics athletes to vie for the tournament trophy in the spirit of teamwork, competition, and camaraderie.

Our newest corporate gift, with a meaningful message: Mr. Leong Ieng Wai, an autistic artist who works at Macau Fuhong Society, has always had an incredible gift that went unnoticed until a staff member at Fuhong discovered a crumpled drawing of his in the bin. Recognizing his talent, Fuhong helped to nurture his gift for penned sketching and intricate works of art with art classes and coaching. MGM is honored to now have four of Mr Leong’s sketches depicting various scenes of MGM MACAU and MGM COTAI on the front of our new corporate gift notepad. We hope that with each gift shared, we can spread the message of the importance of social inclusion and breaking down social barriers and prejudices.

Our Recycling Bag Design Competition Champion is…: Last month we launched the Recycling Bag Design Competition as part of our Let's Waste Less Campaign, where we asked individuals to create a bag using items from our department that we could reduce, reuse or recycle.
Congratulations to Ring Chau from ABA, who was awarded the Recycling Bag Design Champion, receiving the most votes from our company-wide employee vote, who wowed us with his bag made from wine corks skillfully stitched together. We also had 3 other winners who were chosen by our Sustainability Committee for their incredible Let's Waste Less Masterpieces. Another congratulations to:
Janis Ngai, Clover Diep, Erica Yu from Front Office and Concierge who were presented the MGM Pride Bag Award for best representing our MGM brand with a bag made from our room key cards;
Oscar Tey, Ellen Dong and Kenny Huang from Pastry Bar who were awarded the Most Creative Bag Award for their bag made from recyclable materials that even included a live plant!
Lawrence Wong and Eric Fong from Cage Operations who were awarded the Most Sustainable Bag Award for a creative masterpiece made entirely from cardboard boxes, highlighting our need to recycle more paper and cardboard in our day to day activities.
Thank you to everyone for taking part, you are all winners, and have contributed to helping us to raise awareness of the importance of waste reduction at MGM in the hope of building a cleaner and greener Macau.
